All classes, pupils students, scientists, hackers and geeks are cordially invited to join the XO-competition. XO, that's the name of the so-called $ 100 laptop, designed specifically for children in the developing world. The competition consists in the creation of a free choice of written work, which has to stand in connection with the project "One Laptop per Child" (http://www.laptop.org). By keeping a diary blog and a final publication, this competition should make a substantial contribution of Switzerland to the global development project. Although the written work is accepted from a variety of fields, contributions in the domains of computer science and pedagogy are favored. Sämtliche Klassen, Schülerinnen und Schüler, Studentinnen und Studenten sowie Hacker und Geeks sind herzlich dazu eingeladen, am XO-Wettbewerb teilzunehmen. XO, so heisst das sogenannte 100$-Laptop, das speziell für Kinder in der sich entwickelnden Welt konzipiert wurde. Der Wettbewerb besteht in der Erstellung einer frei zu wählenden schriftlichen Arbeit, die lediglich im Zusammenhang mit dem Projekt „One Laptop per Child“ (http://www.laptop.org) stehen muss. Durch die Führung eines Tagebuch-Blogs sowie eine abschliessende Publikation zum Wettbewerb soll ein wesentlicher Beitrag der Schweiz zum weltweiten Entwicklungsprojekt geleistet werden. Die Arbeiten können dabei aus den verschiedensten Bereichen stammen, bevorzugt werden jedoch Projekte aus den Fachrichtungen Informatik sowie Pädagogik.
